Our Vision

A world where all children have access to quality health care.

Who We Are

Global Healing is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to building for a better future where all children and mothers with life-threatening conditions are cared for by local, skilled healthcare professionals.

Our work focuses on sustainable development—empowering local healthcare providers to build lasting, self-sufficient medical services that continue long after our direct involvement ends.

At Global Healing, we believe no one should suffer when sustainable medical solutions exist. By providing medical equipment, services, and training to doctors and patients in parts of the world where access to modern medicine is limited or unavailable, we strengthen health systems and save lives. Together with our supporters and partners, we are creating a world where quality healthcare is within reach for every child and mother, everywhere.

Our Founder,

Jo Ann McGowan

Global Healing was founded by Jo Ann McGowan, whose mission began in 1988 with saving Masha, a little girl in the Soviet Union born with a heart defect. After Masha, Jo Ann dedicated her life to improving health care, particularly in regions with limited health resources. Her efforts led to the creation of both Heart to Heart Global Cardiac Care and Global Healing, impacting countless lives.

Today, Jo Ann’s legacy continues as we provide training, resources, and sustainable support to medical teams globally, empowering them to save lives and strengthen local healthcare systems.

Current Programs

Roatán, Honduras

Global Healing’s Roatán Volunteer Pediatric Clinic (RVPC), founded in 2003, addresses the critical healthcare needs of children and families on the island of Roatán in Honduras, a region with limited public health resources. In April 2024, following a devastating fire that destroyed the island’s only public hospital, Global Healing shifted its focus entirely to Roatán, supporting the island’s recovery efforts.

We collaborate with local institutions to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and enhance pediatric care in key areas such as oral health, trauma care, and neonatology. Dr. Eric Scher, our Volunteer Medical Director, leads the RVPC and oversees the Global Healing Fellow Program, which trains new Honduran doctors to serve their communities.
