Ermelinda Porpiglia, PhD

Board Member

Ermelinda Porpiglia is a tenure-track Assistant Professor at Aarhus University and an Associate Fellow at the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS). Her laboratory develops and tests immunotherapies to boost skeletal muscle regeneration in response to traumatic acute injury or in chronic conditions such as aging and muscular dystrophy. Dr. Porpiglia’s work has been published in top scientific journals, including Nature Medicine, Nature Cell Biology and Cell Stem Cell. She received international awards for her research and leadership.

Dr. Porpiglia holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and she received postdoctoral training at Stanford University. Dr. Porpiglia is a Global Health advocate, who is passionate about bridging the healthcare gap in developing countries using emerging technologies. She is the past president of the Palo Alto Chapter of the Association for Women in Science and she currently serves on the Boards of Stanford Women on Boards and Global Healing.
