Elan Weiner joined the Board of Directors of Global Healing in 2017. He is a public health epidemiology, and specialist in blood banking, with a background in blood safety and blood center operations. Elan serves as Director of Blood Center Services at Cerus Corporation, and is responsible for clinical blood center utilization of the INTERCEPT Blood System, designed to reduce the risk of transfusion-transmitted infections by inactivating a broad range of pathogens such as viruses, bacteria and parasites that may be present in donated blood. With over a decade of blood banking and transfusion medicine experience, Elan has experience in clinical care, development, operations and clinical research. He serves on multiple blood banking and transfusion medicine committees. Elan has authored and coauthored numerous peer-reviewed publications focusing on blood component efficacy/ storage, pathogen reduction, blood center operations and blood component availability.
