Alice J. Gruber MBA, BSN, RN

Alice J. Gruber joined the Board of Directors in 2005 and was the Chief Financial Officer for
Global Healing from 2005-2010. In 2015, she was appointed the Board Secretary. She
previously functioned as the Volunteer Coordinator of the Roatan Pediatric Clinic in Roatan,
Honduras. Along with recruiting and credentialing all the medical volunteers, Alice also helped
manage the clinic for ten years and was very instrumental in obtaining equipment and medical
supplies for the clinic.
She has over 40 years of healthcare industry experience including clinical care, project
management, financial management and clinical information system implementations from
development to selection and implementation including electronic health information systems
such as Epic, Shared Medical Systems, HBOC and Health Links. She was previously responsible
for financial and accounting management for a large hospital healthcare system, an international
AIDS medical conference at UCSF and at Bayer Pharmaceutical in Berkeley. Her clinical
nursing experience included pediatric nursing at Rainbow Babies Children’s Hospital, Cleveland,
Ohio and Stanford Children’s Hospital, Palo Alto, California. She was also a research nurse at
Rockefeller University Hospital, Rockefeller Research Institute, New York City, New York.
Alice Gruber received a Master’s in Business Administration in International Business and
Finance from Saint Mary’s College of California, and a Bachelor of Science Nursing from
Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, Illinois and a certificate in Public Health Nursing
from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. She has previously served on several
San Francisco Bay Area boards including serving as Treasurer of Women Healthcare Executives
and president and treasurer of educational boards. Alice received from Illinois Wesleyan
University in 2011 the Distinguished Alumna Award for Excellence in Nursing. Alice is
currently on the board of Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society of Nursing.
